ALL CLEAR FROM THE AUTHORITIES

The authorities have now given the all clear on the water
contamination at UHYC - this mainly affected the homeowners, but we
did have to purge our system. We are now working to file our claim
with the insurance company concerned.

URBANNA OYSTER FESTIVAL

Parking Permits for the Annual Urbanna Oyster Festival are being
mailed out this week. We hope the weather will be wonderful and we

WATER WATER EVERYWHERE

There has been a water contamination problem found at Urbanna Harbour Subdivision.  Unfortunately this has also, to a lesser extent,  impacted our docks.   State and local authorities are instructing us as to the action that has to be taken.     It is hoped that the corrective measures will be completed by mid week next week but meanwhile please do not DRINK the water on the docks.   If you come down this weekend we recommend that you bring bottled water for drinking.  The water is OK for all other uses.    Of course you also cannot drink the water in the bath houses.

We have an incredible amount of rain the last few days - you might
want to plan on visiting your boat if you have not already done so to
make sure all is well.

all enjoyed the new security this year.

NEW SIGNS

If you have not been down to your boat lately you will not have seen
the new signs we are installing. These are really smart and a great
improvement over the old signs. Check them out next time you are in Urbanna.

URBANNA FARMERS' MARKET

If you are in Urbanna on August 14th, don't forget to stop by the
Urbanna Farmers' Market at Taber Park, starting at 9 a.m. Lots of
new venders, music and fresh vegetables.

POWER ON AT NORTH DOCK

Slips 1 through 48 now have power. After much confusing information
and direction from Dominion Power, I think we finally have it
right. Contact Ed Fisher for more information.

Sunday, August 1, 2010

ELECTRICIANS STILL WORKING HARD

For those of you occupying slips between 49 and 96 the meters have been wired and the power is on to your pedestal.   If you disconnected your power before this project began you will need to contact Dominion Power to resume electrical service.   These pedestals have all passed inspection by the county and are operable as from Wednesday 28th July.   Hopefully all the pedestals will be in working order this coming week - our electricians are doing a sterling job.

RECONNECTING WITH DOMINION POWER

Although we will not have power on the slips for another two or three
weeks, if you phoned in a disconnect with Dominion power when this
project started, you can phone in now and give your slip number and
ask for a reconnection so that you will have power when the pedestals
are wired. New slip owners can call in and advise Dominion Power of
their slip number and open a fresh account.

FINAL MOVE-IN DATES

The move-in dates for the new docks have been announced as follows:

Slips 49 - 129 on or after June 30, 2010

Slips 1 - 48 on or after 5:00 p.m. July 2, 2010

In view of the fact that your committee is allowing move-in without
electrical or plumbing services, we require each slip owner and
renter to sign and return a release on or before moving into your new
slip. These forms have been either emailed or mailed to you.

PARTY TIME

Join us on July 3rd in celebrating our new docks.

MOVING DAY DRAWS NEAR

BOATS IN SLIP 49 – 129 (SOUTH DOCKS)
CAN BE MOORED AT THE NEW FACILITY BEGINNING JULY 1 WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THERE ARE NO UTILITIES ON ANY OF THESE SLIPS.

FOR SLIPS 1 – 48 (NORTH DOCKS)
WE ARE HOPING THAT THESE SLIPS CAN BE OCCUPIED BEGINNING JULY 1 BUT THIS WILL BE CONFIRMED BY THE END OF THIS WEEK.

Your dock replacement committee has rearranged construction sequences in order to allow earlier move in dates for all slips.

Utility cables and plumbing on the south docks will be fully installed and decks made safe for public access and pedestal bases will be installed but not in working order.

We are hoping Utility cables and plumbing on the north docks will be fully installed and decks made safe for public access but pedestal bases and meters will not be wired and will not be in working order.

Both bathhouses will be in full working order.

After the July 4 vacation work will continue on the pedestal installation and should be completed within 2 weeks.

We thank you for your patience, understanding and support.

installed after the plumbing.

Showing the docks on the northern stretch in front of Phil Mullis
House and the corner of the docks showing David Cottrell's Lighthouse home.

THE DOCKS ARE IN PLACE NOW

Here are some views from the bridge of the docks now that we have put
in some of the pilings and jacked them into place. Click on the
images to see them full page.

TWO FAMILIES OF GEESE

We now have a new family of geese with 3 chicks. Our original
family has sadly lost one of its chicks, but the two survivors seems
strong and healthy.

A nice turnout for the AGM

Between 40 and 50 people joined us for the AGM. Afterwards this
group were able to walk the docks. Everything received favourable reviews.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Don't forget the AGM is in two weeks - Saturday May 15, commencing at
10A - look forward to seeing you then. Refreshments will be available.

POOL AND PARKING

The pool fence is in and I must say I think it looks good. The car
park has been gravelled, so that certainly looks a lot better.

PROGRESS REPORT

David and Hazel have been in Florida for a few days at a nice
Graduation ceremony - and a bit of a break from docks!! Back home
again we find progress has continued well. The connecting piers are
now being constructed - pilings have been driven as we start to
position the docks (yes that's right where they currently sit is not
their final position!!!)

More truckloads of docks arrive tomorrow from New York and work will
commence from the circle towards the bridge. I will get some photos out soon.
